Magisterial District Judge(MDJ)

A Magisterial District Judge (MDJ) is the first and often the only member of the state judiciary the many residents will ever encounter.  An MDJ handles traffic cases, minor criminal cases, truancy matters, landlord/tenant matters and civil cases involving amounts up to $12,000.00.

The MDJ presides over preliminary arraignments and sets bail.  It is important to note that the MDJ has broad discretion in imposing sentences.

The MDJ also reviews and signs search warrants.

When you understand what the MDJ does you realize the importance of electing an MDJ based not only on their qualifications but also on their character, common sense, and life experience.

All of these qualities combined bring the best representation and service to the community.
